Personal Development – Who Are You Listening To?

Share |

Personal development is the foundation of all success. Without a strong foundation in personal development, there will be no success. There is a saying by the NAACP – the National Advancement Association for Color People – A mind is a terrible thing to waste, and nothing could be me a stronger saying.

Forbes has a list of 400 of the wealthiest people in the world and if you took the time to follow any of them who may do what you are interested in, you would find that their life is riddled with personal development. People aren’t just born lucky… those who create success and keep the success, work on themselves and their passion as if their life depends on it and there is a formula that all wealthy people tend to follow.

I am a Platinum member of the Global Information Network which is headed by 30 billionaires. They have a council known as the GIN Council – and they have created a format where leaders can emerge. If you haven’t figured it out yet, all of my post since the beginning of January have been about personal development because this is the first of the year and if we get this part right in our life, everything else will fall into place, perfectly.

Too many of us don’t believe in the power of ourselves. From a young child I was taught not to be too confident!!!! Who does that to a child? I was told not to compliment myself which is the same thing. I understand teaching a child not to be conceited, but there is a thin line between the two, and most times the difference isn’t defined and the child is left feeling as though they shouldn’t express to much belief in themselves that carries over into their adult life with low self esteem.

Unfortunately, most people take advice from people who are not what they aspire to be. For example… is someone who is broke telling you to get a job, or go to college and the get a “good” job?

Why do broke people follow other broke people?

My father set me down when I was about to have a child to explain to me how hard life was working a job. He was a factory worker and he made over $60,000 a year nd this was in the 80’s…. which was a very decent income. He even shared that he made more than my college professors… however his talk ended with –“ go to school, finish my college degree and then get a good job”. And I followed that advice to the letter until I read the book, Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill and Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki – these two books totally turned my world upside down and begin to challenge everything that I had believed.

However what’s AMAZING is how so many of us will follow the advice of BROKE people, and when wealthy people attempt to share with us something different, we can’t tend to reject it or just can’t seem to make the time to hear it..

My question is, why are so many people scared to want more?

It all begins with our belief system, and many people are afraid of success, and it just that simple. And it really boils down to what our subconscious mind has been programmed to believe. Remember that the subconscious mind is comfortable with what it knows, so if you have been feeding the subconscious mind one set of information for X amount of years, and then all of a sudden you want to change the dynamics It becomes a challenge for the subconscious and remember the subconscious mind likes comfort.

So when you hear the saying are you willing to be uncomfortable? And/or step out of your comfort zone, that is what is meant.
So are you ready to listen to a group of individuals who have been exactly where you are and have exceeded even their own greatest expectations and are willing to share the fruit of their knowledge and their success with us?
